This post isn’t necessarily about Forearm Tattoos – but now that Spring is in the air and summer is fast approaching (for us in the Northern Hemisphere anyway) – you could look to having a temporary tanned tattoo.

A couple of years ago, for a bit of fun and after a few beers around a BBQ we decided to apply some total sunblock designs to our backs (this can be done over existing sun cream (eg 8 or 15 strength) if it a particularly hot day).

It didn’t take long for the tanning to occur – it was a very hot day when we did this and after about 15 minutes we bottled out, but it was too late and I had a number of tanned tattoo (including a very rude word) stenciled onto my back which stayed around for nearly two years.

Be careful not to smear the sunblocks when you are applying it – and leave it undisturbed otherwise it will not look very good.

Remember to be careful of the sun and don’t get burnt. Darkening of the skin is caused by an increased release of the pigment melanin into the skin’s cells after exposure to ultraviolet radiation. Melanin is produced by cells called melanocytes and protects the body from direct and indirect DNA damage absorbing an excess of solar radiation, which can otherwise be harmful. Depending on a person’s genetic profile, some people can darken quickly and deeply whereas others do not darken much at all.
