The site contains a number of articles, YouTube videos and links to other interesting websites which will hopefully inspire you with some of the different styles and designs that may be of particular interest to you.

As the name suggests – a forearm tattoo is a tattoo design that covers a large portion of the arm from the wrist to the elbow.

Forearm Tattoos range considerably in size from small discrete image designs, quarter sleeve to full-half sleeve and are not for the faint-hearted.  They may also appear on the inner or outer portions of the arm.

Having any sort of tattoo is a huge commitment and once inked is pretty difficult to hide or disguise.  If you change your mind, it is nearly impossible to remove a tattoo on the forearm, so make sure you are 100% comfortable with the idea before making the commitment – there is no hurry to get it done.

Once you have decided to have a tattoo, the next most important thing is to make sure you carefully choose a design that reflects you and your personality.

Take as much time as you can to trawl the internet or magazines for a good design (the sites listed and linked below literally have over ten thousand of easy to search designs to browse and print off).  Find a few designs you like and like and take some time to decide your preference.

Spend as much as you can on a good reputable artist to transfer the design to your forearm or forearms – these tattoos will be around for quite a while and are unlike more hidden designs which could be hidden elsewhere on your body.

How a Tattoo is Applied

Author: admin  //  Category: Forearm Tattoos, Temporary Tattoos

Tattooing is the way in which a visible design is applied under somebody’s skin.  A tattoo is made by putting ink through the outermost layer of skin (epidermis) and into the layer of skin beneath (dermis).  The cells within the dermis are stable and do not shed so a tattoos are permanent.

Ink is applied by either piercing or cutting the skin.  Historically, tattoos were applied using needles, knives, chisels or even cactus needles.  Nowadays this is usually done using an electric device that punches a needle up and down through the skin, piercing the skin and injecting a small amount of ink with each stroke.

Most tattoos are created using a stencil.  A stencil can be applied to the skin prior to the tattooist making the design permanent, allowing the customer to make the final decision on its size, design and positioning.  The stencil then provides an outline of the design on the skin, which the tattooist follows.

The tattooist then prepares the skin by thoroughly cleaning (with antiseptic and soap) and shaving the area.  The tattooist will then follows the stencil to create the basic outline before enhancing the lines and infilling.

Not all tattoos need to be permanent – temporary tattoos (such as transfers or henna) may be applied, which eventually wash off, or fade as the skin sheds.

Inner Forearm Tattoos

Author: admin  //  Category: Forearm Tattoos, Inner Forearm Tattoos

Inner Forearm Tattoos, when being applied, can be sore and uncomfortable.  If you are worried about this, look around at how many people have them – they have all survived, so it can’t be that bad.

On a serious note though, the Inner Forearm is a very sensitive area, and tattoos in this area of the body can be sore and cause significant bruising, swelling and/or inflamation.

Infections or allergic reactions are rare, if you have concerns following the tattoo procedure then seek medical advice immediately.

If you are lconsidering Inner Forearm Tattoos, remember, the amount of ink that remains in the skin throughout the healing process determines, in large part, how robust the final tattoo will look.  There are many products that can be applied to the tattoo area to help with the healing process.  These healing products are mostly oil based ointments as they keep the skin hydrated.

In general, the advice is against removing scabs that forms on new tattoos, and avoiding exposing the tattoo to the sun for extended periods; both of these can contribute to fading of the image.

Also, it is agreed that all new tattoos needs to be kept clean.  The general consensus is that good old soap and warm water will keep the skin clean and free from infection.

Sometimes when a blood vessel is punctured during the tattooing procedure (maybe the needle has gone in too far) a bruise will appear.  Bruising and swelling should go away, but if you are concerned, we would suggest going back to your artist or visit the doctor to have a look at it.

Celtic Tattoos – Designs and Origins

Author: admin  //  Category: Celtic Tattoos Designs, Forearm Tattoo, Forearm Tattoos

Personally, I think that a traditional Celtic design look really cool as forearm tattoos.

The term Celts is used to describe any of the European peoples who spoke, or speak, a Celtic language.

Celtic history literally goes back thousands of years. In Britain, by the early first millennium AD, following the expansion of the Roman Empire and the invading European warriors, such as the Angles of Northern Germany, the Celtic culture had become restricted to the extremities of the British Isles – mainly Cornwall, Wales, Ireland and Scotland, which is where the of the Celts has survived, carved into standing stones and stone tombs as well as being discovered on pottery fragments and ornaments.

Elsewhere in Europe, Celtic areas refers to Brittany (France), Galicia (NW Spain), Northern and Central Portugal and Asturias (Northern Spain).

The early Celts displayed their skills in Celtic art forms such as metal, jewelry and weapons.

Typically, Celtic art is ornamental, avoiding straight lines and only occasionally using symmetry.

For people of Celtic heritage, having a Celtic tattoo design is often a way of expressing pride in ones heritage.

The most popular design searches for Celtic Tatoos include:

  • Celtic cross tattoo designs (a symbol that combines a cross with a ring surrounding the intersection)
  • Celtic knotwork tattoos
  • Celtic symbol tattoos
  • Celtic art tattoo designs
  • Celtic love knot tattoos

Wanting inspiration for a Celtic tattoo?

Maybe you are a Celt or you are looking for a tattoo that has both meaning and reflects your personality?

Chopper Tattoo – Review

Author: admin  //  Category: Forearm Tattoos, chopper tattoos

If you do a general Google search for Tattoo designs, you will more than likely come across the Chopper Tattoo website (and the associated image below).

Chopper Tattoos was put together by a team of tattoo experts who are well known within the tattoo industry for their contributions to tattoo design and tattoo art.

Chopper Tattoo is a tattoo design website with a database of about 4000 tattoo’s, specifically set up to help you choose a design for your next tattoo.

You can download and print as many designs as you like, and can combine different designs to make your own custom tattoo.

There are many different tattoo categories (about 38) to choose from in the membership area of Chopper Tattoo.  Once you’ve found a design you like, simply select it and you can print it out to take to your chosen tattoo artist.

Membership Costs

In my opinion the Chopper Tattoo memberships are priced fairly.   The site offers a flexible membership, depending on the length of time / amount of tattoos you require.

1 Month – $19.95
2 Months – $24.95
Lifetime – $34

So if you only want one tattoo, then a one month membership is really all you are likely to need.  But if you are wanting multiples, then you probably want the lifetime membership.

Chopper Tattoos – The Negatives

The signing up process is a bit sparse.  I am naturally wary of entering my name and e-mail address.  To their credit though, I must admit that I haven’t been bombarded with junk e-mails or spam as a result.

You will need plenty of time to trawl through the site – there is some really cool stuff on the site which is mostly a distraction.

Chopper Tattoos – The Positives

The site is very easy to use, it doesn’t matter if you are a complete beginner or an expert.  Just follow the simple steps and you will get the tattoo you are after.  As you become familiar with the way the site works you will get more out of it.

You don’t need to buy anything else.  If you have your computer and printer, that is all you need.

Chopper Tattoo categorizes the designs to make it easy to find what you are looking for. The popular designs includes Tribal Tattoos, Forearm Tattoos, Dragon Tattoos, Cross Tattoos, Star Tattoos, Lower Back Tattoos, Butterfly Tattoos, Celtic Tattoos, Fish Tattoos, Egyptian Tattoos, Gothic Tattoos and Armband Tattoos.

You can find tattoos according to size, color and keywords and so that you don’t have to pass on several pages to find out your design.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Author: admin  //  Category: Forearm Tattoos

A bit of a tenuous link with Forearm Tattoos, but I thought I would share with you a good thriller that I have just finished – The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson (winner of the British Book Awards, Best Crime Thriller of the Year, 2009).

I am not what you would call a book connoisseur or acclaimed critic, but I thought the book was a gripping, rip roaring crime novel, which I found difficult putting down (resulting in quite a few late nights – yawn).  Apparently the second book is even better – great.  This is how Amazon sums up the story …

Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder – and that the killer is a member of his own family. He employs journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed, truculent computer hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate.

When the pair link Harriet’s disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history. But the Vangers are a secretive clan, and Blomkvist and Salander are about to find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves.

Sadly the authour did not live to see the worldwide phenomenon his trilogy has become.

Personally, I think a fair rating for the book overall is four out of five.

Below is a link to Amazon if you are interested in finding out more about the trilogy.

How to Remove a Forearm Tattoo

Author: admin  //  Category: Forearm Tattoos

I don’t want to put you off having a forearm tattoo – but you may want to just see what is involved if you change you mind (or you suffer from an allergic reaction).

While your forearm tattoo would be considered permanent, it is sometimes possible to remove them, fully or partially, by a dermatologic surgeon on an outpatient basis with local anesthesia.

The most common techniques used for tattoo removal are:

Laser surgery
A tattoo could be removed by selectively treating the pigment colors with a high-intensity laser beam.  Lasers are now the standard treatment as they offer a non-surgical and highly effective approach with minimal side effects.

Surgical excision
A surgeon could remove the tattoo with a scalpel and then bind the wound using stitches.

Dermabrasion
This involves the “sanding” of the skin to remove the surface and middle layers of the tattoo.

Side effects
Side effects may include varying degrees of skin discoloration, possible infection of the tattoo area, lack of complete pigment removal, or some scarring. A raised or thickened scar may appear three to six months after the tattoo is removed.

The expense and pain of removing your forearm tattoos will typically be greater than the expense and pain of applying them.

If you are not put off by this, then take a look at some of the sites below to get some great forearm tattoo design ideas:
